11 x 14 Interior Oil Painting on Canvas

SOLD

When I am doing a painting inspired by Vincent I
always think about what a troubled person he was and
I seem to want to created serene environments for him.

If he painted such beautiful works being so ill can you image
what he could create being in a state of calm, peaceful and
untroubled.

Maybe sitting here looking out on the land that
he so lovingly painted, smoking his pipe, having some tea and
enjoying a good book surrounded by the the irises that he
painted so often.

The scene was inspired by one of Vincent's paintings

Enjoy

Painting Inspired by Vogue Magazine A Summer Stroll by k Madison Moore

Vintage Inspirations Series
11 x 14 Vogue Inspired Painting on Canvas

I have been thinking about this series and doing a lot of  research for
it for a couple of years. Finally now, I have several designs ready to
execute.

In my younger days I was infatuated with fashion and design.
I was highly influenced by Vogue and especially the Art Deco Era.

I was involved in the modeling industry and decided that I wanted to
design the clothes instead of showing them.  I followed that vision
for many years until I went back to study art with my mentors.

So, this series is kind of dedicated to my love of fashion, Art Deco,
Illustrations inspired by Vogue, Vanity Fair, Theatre and many
more publications. Those were the days of incredible detail, femininity,
elegance and magnificence!

Enjoy
A Summer Stroll

In 1892 Arthur Turnure founded Vogue as a weekly publication in the United States, sponsored by Kristoffer Wright. When he died in 1909, Condé Montrose Nast picked up the magazine and slowly grew its publication. Hechanged it to a bi-weekly magazine and also started Vogue overseas starting in the 1910s. He first went to Britain in 1916, and started a Vogue there, then to Spain, and then to Italy and France 1920, where it was a  huge success. The magazine's number of publications and profit increased dramatically under his management. The magazine's number of subscriptions surged during the Depression, and again during World War II. During this time, noted critic and former Vanity Fair editor Frank Crowininshield served as its editor, having been moved over from Vanity Fair by publisher Conde Nast.

Thanks again Nancy

Diego Rivera was known for painting
huge murals, really huge so I thought doing
one of his famous calla lily paintings as a mural
would be fun. It is my favorite flower as well so
I really enjoyed painting this for my collector
especially in this nice size of 24 x 36. A really
nice conversation piece.

Enjoy
In Love with Rivera

If you have an idea for a Museum painting
with works from your favorite Master
contact me with your ideas.

Rivera began drawing when he was only three, just a year after his twin brother's death. He had been caught drawing on the walls. His parents, rather than punishing him, installed chalkboards and canvas on the walls for the young painter to make use of.
As an adult, Rivera was a notorious womanizer who had fathered at least one illegitimate child. He married Angelina Beloff in 1911, and she gave birth to a son, Diego (1916–1918). Maria Vorobieff-Stebelskagave birth to a daughter named Marika in 1918 or 1919 when Rivera was married to Angelina (according to House on the Bridge: Ten Turbulent Years with Diego Rivera and Angelina's memoirs called Memorias). He married his second wife, Guadalupe Marín, in June 1922, with whom he had two daughters: Ruth and Guadalupe. He was still married when he met art student Frida Kahlo. They married on August 21, 1929 when he was 42 and she was 22. Their mutual infidelities and his violent temper led to divorce in 1939, but they remarried December 8, 1940 in San Francisco.

Thanks so Much LK

Art Museum Collection Series
 Museum Oil Painting on Canvas

I decided to revisit my Art Museum Collection
Series and want to start adding more work to
this series so you will see them soon. I will be
adding paintings to a few of my other series as well.

I will still be doing my favorite interiors but have
been getting some requests for these series as well.
I will also be introducing a new series very soon.

The only hint I will give is the title:
Vintage Inspirations Series
and full of details....as usual!

I haven't painted with Lautrec for so long. I actually
designed this about 4 years ago and just
could not find the time to do such a large detailed
painting with 28 figures!!

So much fun painting all the art deco figures
and dressing them for the era. Reminded me of
when I was a kid with paper dolls, lol!
The toughest part was painting those very tiny faces!!

Enjoy

The Lautrec Exhibit

Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa or simply Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec  24 November 1864 – 9 September 1901) was a French painter, printmaker, draughtsman and illustrator whose immersion in the colorful and theatrical life of Paris in the late 1800s yielded a collection of exciting, elegant and provocative images of the modern and sometimes decadent life of those times.
Throughout his career, which spanned less than 20 years, Toulouse-Lautrec created 737 canvases, 275 watercolors, 363 prints and posters, 5,084 drawings, some ceramic and stained glass work, and an unknown number of lost works.
He excelled at capturing people in their working environment, with the color and the movement of the gaudy night-life present but the glamour stripped away. He was masterly at capturing crowd scenes in which the figures are highly individualized. At the time that they were painted, the individual figures in his larger paintings could be identified by silhouette alone, and the names of many of these characters have been recorded. His treatment of his subject matter, whether as portraits, scenes of Parisian night-life, or intimate studies, has been described as both sympathetic and dispassionate.
Toulouse-Lautrec's skilled depiction of people relied on his painterly style which is highly linear and gives great emphasis to contour. He often applied the paint in long, thin brushstrokes which would often leave much of the board on which they are painted showing through. Many of his works may best be described as drawings in colored paint.
An alcoholic for most of his adult life, Toulouse-Lautrec was placed in a  sanatorium shortly before his death. He died from complications due to alcoholism and  syphilis at the family estate in Malromé at the age of 36.

Peter's New York State of Mind by k Madison Moore Interior Inspired by Peter Max

Peter's New York State of Mind

11 x 14 Oil Painting on Canvas

I am always so fascinated with Peter Max
 and his accomplishments.
In searching for inspiration from some I found this
ship that he was commissioned to design the art
for it's hull.
Amazing! He has designed for cars and pianos
among many others. These are some huge canvas'
for sure!

I decided that I wanted to use the "original" New York
skyline as an honer to 911. This ship will now be
a New York icon so what better than to have the
orignal skyline as it will forever be an icon as well!

This is definitely an interior with a different view!
I could see Peter sitting here among his art looking
on at this huge accomplishment with a toast in hand.
He must be so proud!
Enjoy!

MIAMI – September 4, 2012 – Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Breakaway’s signature hull artwork designed by pop icon and America’s most popular living artist, Peter Max. This is the first time Norwegian has commissioned a well-known artist to paint the hull artwork on one of its ships. Launching in April 2013, Norwegian Breakaway will be the largest ship to homeport in New York City year-round.  Max’s signature artwork will cover approximately 40,000 square feet of Norwegian Breakaway’s hull.

“While it has been an honor to have my art exhibited in museums and galleries, I have also enjoyed creating giant ‘canvases’ for public view, including my 600 ft. Woodstock stage, a giant World’s Fair mural, the body of a Continental 777 super jet, and now, the hull of Norwegian Breakaway,” said Peter Max from his New
York studio. “The artwork is a composite of New York City and cosmic imagery— the Statue of Liberty, the Manhattan skyline, a giant sunburst, planets, stars, and musical notes. That’s my New York! And now Norwegian Breakaway is my New York cruise ship ‘canvas.’”

“Norwegian Breakaway is New York’s ship and this colorful artwork by Peter Max will make the ship an instant icon,” said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line’s chief executive officer.  “The Big Apple is known for its love of art and its many galleries – and now, Norwegian Breakaway becomes a floating piece of art that will cruise in and dock every Saturday on New York’s West Side. With this distinctive design, unlike anything else on the water, the ship will be recognizable to the millions of New Yorkers who will see her as she journeys up and down the Hudson River each week.”

Jammin with Matisse Interior Painting Inspired by Henri Matisse by k Madison Moore

Jammin with Matisse

Painting with The Masters
Art within Art Series

11 x 14 Interior Oil Painting on Canvas

SOLD

I always enjoy painting with Matisse because I love all the primary
colors he uses along with many different patterns in one painting.
That's not really so easy to do and to make them all work together.

This painting was inspired by several of Henri Matisses paintings.
He painted several with guitars so he must have had some kind of'
interest in them and music.  Wonder if he played?

He painted very few landscapes but I found this nice one to use
as the window scene. I have used similar drapes a few times but
had fun changing the pattern a bit and the colors.

Do you remember jumpsuits? I was thinking about a denim
one that I used to own when I was painting this one.

So...it looks like the girls are enjoying some wine and fruit
and Jammin with Matisse!
Enjoy!

A slow developer who, at the age of 35, found himself briefly the leader of the artistic avant-garde in Paris. He was significantly influenced, and liberated, by painting sessions shared with Paul Signac and Henri-Edmond Cross, and eventually enlarged their Pointillist dots into his own bold brushstrokes of vivid (and often unmixed) colors. Matisse maintained that he always selected colours that would follow his intuition and composed them in such a way as to stimulate intense feelings in the observer,  also to balance pure and vivid colors in such a way as to arrive at an art of exciting serenity and resolution. Like those of Dufy, his paintings often display a daring spontaneity of color and contour and a rejection of the highlight-and-shadow tradition of European academic painting.

Henri Matisse’s palette: Flake White, Chrome Yellow, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Yellow Ochre, Scarlet Lake, Vermilion, Emerald Green, Viridian Green, French Ultramarine, Cobalt Violet, Ivory Black.

Thank you

I thought it would be cool to post the first Welcome to My Jungle so you
would know why I titled this new painting Welcome to My Jungle Again.
My collector that purchased the first one jumped right on this new Jungle
painting  to have the pair. They look so amazing together. I am so happy
that she was the one that got this painting for her collection.
Thanks again Eva.

I loved to do puzzles when I was a kid.
Once in awhile you would see a photo with
several hidden elements in it that you had to find.
I would not give up until I found every single one.

I really like Henri Rousseau and his funny animals
and jungle paintings. I did a lot of research on his
work for this composition. See if you can find the 35
animals that are in this painting. I had a blast painting
this one but with all of the details it was never ending.

Whom ever purchases this painting will get a diagram
of where to find all of the animals. This is a fun painting
for everyone, kids and adults and surely a great
conversation piece.
Have fun!

Henri Rousseau: Jungles in Paris was a visually exciting, important exhibition. A collaboration between the Tate Modern, the Musée d'Orsay and the Réunion des musées nationaux, in association with the National Gallery of Art, this was the first Rousseau retrospective in the United States since MoMA's show in 1985, which had a quite different agenda. That exhibition and its catalogue focused primarily on Rousseau's influence on vanguard artists of the twentieth century: he was the rebel, the outsider who represented purity and instinct. Now that Rousseau's place in the modernist pantheon has been secured, it seems, we can cast our nets more widely to consider other issues—of audience, politics, and history. In this most recent exhibition, selected by Christopher Green and Frances Morris with Claire Frèches-Thory, there were certainly references to Rousseau's modernism and to his outsider status—labels told us that certain works "caught the attention of the avant-garde"—yet the focus was not so much biography or canonization, but contextualization. What was being contextualized, specifically, was the artist's jungle paintings—the densely packed, enigmatic fantasies painted mostly between the years of 1904 and 1910. The jungle pictures were understood here not merely as one artist's quirky fixation, but as part of a broader cultural phenomenon, namely the French fascination with exoticism during the nation's colonial expansion.
