Thanks again MD
Your collection is really growing!

I had this idea in my head of my Big Hat Ladies
having an afternoon conversation over drinks, when
I thought about Matisse's painting,  La Conversation
that he painted in 1938.
I thought it would be great with this composition
because the ladies look like they are eavesdropping
on the party. Notice I even included them by giving
them their own drinks, lol!
Matisse is known for mixing many patterns in one
composition. I love doing this also because it's a challenge.
He not only mixed patterns but many colors together
that you would probably never think of using or would
not want to use together!
It's hard to do but I think I accomplished it here in giving
each lady their own color combinations. Somehow it
always seems to work out. Love the faces I gave them this
time too! So smirky!
Enjoy!

Picasso - The Cubist Oil Painting by k Madison Moore

Picasso - The Cubist
Inspired by Pablo Picasso
©kMadisonMooreFineArtInc.2013

Painting with The Masters

22 x 22 Oil Painting on Canvas

Sold - Commission

This is a similar painting to one that I painted
and sold several years ago. The original was 12" x 16"
rectangle. This one is much larger 22" x 22" and
square.
In this one the colors are much brighter
and I made subtle color changes as well. The ceiling
here looks a bit like a sky which I think adds more
movement than the original. (below)

I think I favor this one because it is in a larger
format so I was able to do a lot more detailing.
They seem to work out better the second time
around!
Enjoy

"Picasso The Cubist"

The Cubist - Picasso 12 x 16 Original

During the early days of cubism historians attributed the creation of cubism to one man: Pablo Picasso. Now we know that he has to share to honor with Georges Braque. Braque had studied Cézanne's method of representing three dimensions as seen from several viewpoints. Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque soon became good friends and went on to develop the visual language of cubism in close cooperation, an alliance that Picasso would sometimes call a marriage. Analytical cubism lasted until 1911 and is characterized by monochrome, relatively unemotional paintings that depict rather uneventful subjects, such as still lives. Many paintings of analytical cubism are faceted  a technique that allows the artist to disect and reconstruct his subject in a way that depicts its essence rather than its appearance. Although largely abstract, the faceted technique still produces a recognizable image of the subject.

The technique of faceting originated from Georges Braques - it was his way to depict a natural object. Picasso didn't so much facet natural objects, but used the geometry of Braques' faceted paintings to create a style that was abstract in essence, almost pure abstract art. So cubism refers to the styles of both Braques and Picasso, although Braques' cubism has a recognizable figurative objective, while Picasso's cubism served as the link between Braques' style and pure the abstract art that followed from cubism (such as Piet Mondrian and suprematism).

Klimt Meets Matisse Interior Oil Painting by k Madison Moore

Klimt Meets Matisse

18 x 24 Interior Oil Painting on Canvas

Sold - Commission

This painting just arrived to it's new home in Spain
Thanks so much Lourdes.
Enjoy!

My collector loved my painting "Melodies of Klimt"
but it was already sold so I repainted a similar. She likes the
lady in one of Matisse's paintings, Woman in a Purple Robe
so I used her instead of the lady in the original.

I added red to the robe and touches of purple to the painting
to pull it all together. I also added Matisse's big yellow pillow
and flowers and changed her face. So now I call this one
Klimt Meets Matisse
and I love the idea and the way it all worked out. Best of all the
 collector is happy!
What fun inspirations from two great Masters!
I will be doing this again.

look with my style paintings.

I was researching for ideas for sofas for new paintings
and ran across a similar sofa to this and fell in love.
This sofa inspired this painting. Here is the link
Name Design Studio
They were so nice to give me permission to use their
furniture photos. They do such lovely, unique, artistic
work. Check them out when you can. I am about to ask
about a couple more photos for my work.

I have been wanting to do
some of Picasso's from his Black and White Exhibit.
The center painting is the Poster from this exhibit.

Picasso - Black and White Exhibit

Few artists have exerted as considerable an influence over subsequent generations as Pablo Picasso (1881–1973). While his work is often seen through the lens of his diverse styles and subjects, the recurrent motif of black, white, and gray is frequently overlooked. Picasso Black and White presents a unique and illuminating perspective on a lesser-known but fascinating aspect of his formidable body of work. Claiming that color weakens, Picasso purged it from his work in order to highlight the formal structure and autonomy inherent in his art. According to Carmen Giménez, his repeated minimal palette correlates to his obsessive interest in line and form, drawing, and monochromatic and tonal values, while developing a complex language of pictorial and sculptural signs. The recurrent motif of black, white, and gray is evident in his Blue and Rose periods, pioneering investigations into Cubism, neoclassical figurative paintings, and retorts to Surrealism. Even his later works that depict the atrocities of war, allegorical still life's, vivid interpretations of art-historical masterpieces, and his sensual canvases created during his twilight years continued to apply a reduction of color. Picasso Black and White will demonstrate how the artist was continuously investigating, inventing, and drawing in somber and austere monochromatic tones throughout his career.

11 x 14 Interior Oil Painting on Canvas

This was a dream that I had about Vincent sitting at a window
looking out at His Starry Night.  Since Starry Night was such a
mystery as to why he painted it, I wanted him to be in my version
of the painting he did of The Bedroom of Arles that was in his
Yellow House where he lived in 1888. (below)

I wonder if he visualized this scene while looking out his
window, sick in the asylum where he painted Starry Night.
He painted it from memory while locked away.

Enjoy Starry Starry Night!

The Bedroom of Arles 1988

Van Gogh painted “Starry Night” during one of the most difficult periods of his life, while he was locked up in an asylum at Saint Remy. He had to paint the scene from memory, not outdoors as he preferred. Van Gogh mentioned “Starry Night” only twice in his letters to his brother, Theo. It is therefore one of the more mysterious and intriguing Van Gogh compositions.
Vincent (Starry Starry Night)
McLean wrote “Vincent,” also known as “Starry, Starry Night,” in the fall of 1970, while he was working for the Berkshire School District. He was living in the Sedgwick House, a beautiful Federal style house in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The Sedgwick family included Edie Sedgwick, a colorful figure whom Andy Warhol had filmed in the 1960s. McLean wrote “Vincent” in his apartment full of antiques. The inspiration came to him one morning while he was sitting on the veranda looking at a book about Vincent Van Gogh. As he studied a print of Van Gogh’s painting “Starry Night,” he realized that a song could be written about the artist through the painting.

18 x 24 Matisse Inspired Oil Painting on Canvas

This painting will live in the UK
Thanks so much Alix

This is an repaint of a painting that I did last year.
Because this one is so much larger I was able to do a lot
more details, especially with the little rosebuds. I changed
the colors to make them much brighter than the first. My
collector wanted more red in the flowers in the the vase and
a few other minor changes to make this "her original."

If you are interested in a painting that has been sold I can
repaint a similar for you in any size you wish. I can add
elements and colors to your specifications. Just email me
below with your ideas and I will be happy to work with you.
