I always wanted to work with stained glass. My friend had a
wonderful stained glass studio and was going to teach me. My
first lesson was a disaster. I was so afraid of cutting the glass
that every time I tried I got glass splinters in my fingers. It didn't
take me long to realize that this was not for me. Painting can be
messy but at least it doesn't hurt!

There will only ever be one Tiffany! Amazingly beautiful cuts
of glass formed to make the most incredible works of art. If you
want to read a good book on Tiffany check out the Tiffany Girls.
Candice Wheeler was the main designer for Tiffany and designed
many, many of the Tiffany works without credit for her work.
She ran the Tiffany shop and the ladies that worked there. I am
reading it as an ebook now so you know what  inspired this
painting.

I would love to have a room like this on a lake. Imagine a lake
of stained glass and sitting here looking out at all those colors.
Have a cup of tea from the Tiffany pot, dim the Tiffany lamp
for ambiance and enjoy Tiffany on The Lake!

Interior Painting Dancing in My Dreams Inspired by Matisse by k Madison Moore

Dancing in My Dreams

Painting of Interior

11 x 14 Oil Painting of Interior

Art within Art Series

This was so much fun. Working on making the dancers
translucent as to be the vision of the dancers in her dream
was a challenge against the back ground of the window scene
and buildings.
The flowered wall and vase are my impression of a few
elements from his works as well as the nude and just had to
add a peek of Matisse's painting The Dance. My connection
to him is his use of primary colors and mixing of pattern
in one composition.

Enjoy
Dancing in My Dreams

 The Dance by Henri Matisse

In March 1909 Matisse painted a preliminary version of this work, known as Dance (I)It was a compositional study and uses paler colors and less detail. The painting was highly regarded by the artist who once called it "the overpowering climax of luminosity"; it is also featured in the background of Matisse's La Danse with Nasturtiums (1912).

It was donated by Nelson A. Rockerfeller  in honor of Alfred H. Barr Jr. to the  Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Dance, is a large decorative panel, painted with a companion piece,  Music, specifically for the Russian businessman and art collector Sergei  Shchukin with whom Matisse had a long association. Until the October Revolution  of 1917, this painting hung together with Music on the staircase of Shchukin's  Moscow mansion.

The painting shows five dancing figures, painted in a strong red, set against a very simplified green landscape and deep blue sky. It reflects Matisse's incipient fascination with primitive art, and uses a classic Fauvist color palette: the intense warm colors against the cool blue-green background and the rhythmical succession of dancing nudes convey the feelings of emotional liberation and hedonism. The painting is often associated with the "Dance of the Young Girls" from Igor Stravinsky's famous musical  work The Rite of Spring.

Dance is commonly recognized as "a key point of (Matisse's) career and in the development of modern painting". It generally resides in the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, but was loaned to  Hermitage Museum for a period of six weeks from April 1 to May 9, 2010.

I am working on a large commission with Monet and it
brought to mind that I painted this one and never posted it.
I do save some for a rainy day when I am really busy.

I can just imagine sitting here looking out at Monet's
Japanese Bridge and water lilies among all the beautiful
assortment of tress and other colorful flowers.
Imagine walking thought this coral path through the
Gardens of Giverny!

After a long walk on a sunny day, kicking off my shoes
and enjoying some summer tea,
I wonder what  music could be created on this
piano for Monet. Can you hear it?

Enjoy
Music Tea Monet and Me!

Claude Monet noticed the village of Giverny while looking out of a train window. He made up his mind to move there and rented a house and the area surrounding it. In 1890 he had enough money to buy the house and land outright and set out to create the magnificent gardens he wanted to paint. Some of his most famous paintings were of his garden in Giverny, famous for its rectangular Clos normand, with archways of climbing plants entwined around colored shrubs, and the water garden, formed by a tributary to the Epte, with the Japanese bridge, the pond with the water lily, the wisterias and the azaleas. Monet lived in the house with its famous pink crushed brick façade from 1883 until his death in 1926. He and many members of his family are interred in the village cemetery.

With the support of the prefecture, Monet had the first small pond dug ; even though his peasant neighbors were opposed. They were afraid that his strange plants would poison the water.
Later on the pond would be enlarged to its present day size. The water garden is full of asymmetries and curves. It is inspired by the Japanese gardens that Monet knew from the prints he collected avidly.
It was crossed by a small brook, the Ru, which is a diversion of the Epte, a tributary of the Seine River. With the support of the prefecture, Monet had the first small pond dug ; even though his peasant neighbors were opposed. They were afraid that his strange plants would poison the water.

This is a commission based of my originals (below) that I
painted several years ago. The original was also much smaller
about 12 x 18  or there about.

In this one the collector selected what de Lempicka paintings
she wanted to be hanging. I also changed the top of the windows
and added a lot more details and personalized it on the columns
with her initials. It's so hard to see all  the great details in a photo
online. This one was a lot of work but I do like the way it turned out
and so does the collector. That's all that counts!!
Thanks again Monica!

If you see paintings in my portfolio that are sold that you would
like to have, maybe with some subtle changes or elements that you would
like, contact me with your ideas and sizes. I also be happy to design
one just for your with your specifications.

I love to work with Henri Rousseau because he always
used so much detail in his paintings. I recently found a lovely
painting if his of a sunset very similar to this one and fell in
love with it.

I really like the depth of the trees leading back
to the broken sunset beyond them. I just saw lovers taking
a stroll on the path lit up from the pinks and yellows of the
sunset. Maybe they took a break from sipping wine and
and playing some music, reading and smelling the roses
to take "A Sunset Stroll with Rousseau"

Enjoy!

Small details make this painting very special. The book has a rose
to mark the last page read and another is placed in front of
the wine glasses. Were these a gift from her lover?

Rousseau's work is characterized by heavy dependence on line, stiff (and unrealistic) portraiture, wild juxtapositions and flattened perspective from which the Cubists and Surrealists drew heavily. His imagination plays a major role in his work; Rousseau never personally set foot in a jungle. He did, though, spend considerable time viewing the plants and animals at Paris' Jardin des Plantes. It seems wrong to label his work as "primitive" without acknowledging the sense of wonder behind it.

I just received the most beautiful comment from
one of my collectors about this painting. I felt so
honored that I have to post it.
Thanks so much again HG

Tks for sharing yr paintings with us.  Find this painting really beautiful.  Love Vincent.  Visited the museum in Amsterdam where they had quite a few of his paintings.  Love the Irises, the teapot, the rattan chaise longue with the really pretty 'Sunflower  and Iris ' design cushion. What a beautiful mind you must have.  Vincent would have got rid of his depression in a room like this. He would feel honoured wherever he is.

___________________________

I always enjoy working with van Gogh. His most popular
paintings are his sunflowers. So many love them also.
I would love to have a corner like this where I could read and
be surrounded by paintings of his and wonderful Iris's and Sunflowers.
How relaxing! He was such a troubles soul yet painted the
most beautiful works! The artful mind of a genius!

Enjoy "Vincent was Here"!

Sunflowers (original title, in French: Tournesols) are the subject of two  series of still life paintings by the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. The earlier series executed in Paris in 1887 gives the flowers lying on the ground, while the second set executed a year later in Arles shows bouquets of sunflowers in a vase. In the artist's mind both sets were linked by the name of his friend Paul Gauguin, who acquired two of the Paris versions. About eight months later Van Gogh hoped to welcome and to impress Gauguin again with Sunflowers, now part of the painted decoration he prepared for the guest room of his yellow House  Yellow House where Gauguin was supposed to stay in Arles. After Gauguin's departure, Van Gogh imagined the two major versions as wings of the Berceuse Triptych, and finally he included them in his exhibit  at  Les XX in Bruxelles.
